Madi Luimstra

British-Dutch violist Madi Luimstra obtained her bachelor’s degree at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where she studied with Matthew Jones and Emmanuella Reiter. In 2019 she completed her master’s degree with Richard Wolfe at the Conservatory of Utrecht. She followed masterclasses with Kyril Zlotnikov (Jerusalem Quartet), Jack Liebeck and Eldar Nebolsin.

An avid orchestra musician, she has performed throughout Europe in concert halls such as the Philharmonie Berlin, Teatro la Fenice, The Concertgebouw, Royal Festival Hall and the O2 Arena in London. During her 4-year membership of the orchestral academy, Ljubljana International Orchestra, she was selected to perform with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in a concert conducted by Daniele Gatti.

Madi is also active in chamber music. She is part of the Florestan Ensemble, with whom she has performed in Paris, Lisbon and the Netherlands.

As a versatile musician, Madi performs in all kinds of music besides classical music  other music genres. For example, she replaced in the Metropole Orkest and performed with the London jazz band Maisha (CD: There is a Place) and the progressive rock musician, Rick Wakeman (The Myths and Legends of King Arthur – 2016 expanded edition).
