Emma Rhebergen
The Dutch violinist Emma Rhebergen is a versatile musician, with a great love for chamber music. She performs frequently in her ensembles Chekhov trio, StringWood Ensemble and as a duo with pianist Michelle Chow, as well as as a soloist and in various (chamber) orchestra formations.
She started violin lessons at the age of five, was admitted at the age of fifteen to the School for Young Talent at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where she was taught by Koosje van Haeringen, and followed her Bachelor’s degree at the same institute in the class of Vera Beths. She continued her master’s degree at the Conservatory of Maastricht with Yuzuko Horigome and in 2019 passed the concert musician exam at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with greatest distinction.
Emma has performed successfully at various national and international competitions, both as a soloist and in chamber music. She won first prizes at the Princess Christina Competition (2012) and the competition for chamber music ensembles of the International Chamber Music Festival Hoorn (2012), in 2016 she was a finalist with the Metis String Quartet of the competition “de Grote Kamermuziekprijsā in Rotterdam, she was twice ( 2016 and 2018) semi-finalist of the Oskar Back violin competition in the Netherlands and won second prize and special KCB award at the international music competition Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels (2018) with her Chekhov trio.
Emma can also be found on stage regularly as an orchestral musician. Emma is currently the second violin leader of the Ciconia Consort, and regularly plays in the Ataneres Ensemble from Belgium. During her studies she was a member of the Dutch National Youth Orchestra (NJO) several times, where she was concertmaster in the winter and spring of 2015.
As a soloist with orchestra, Emma has performed in works by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Dvorak, Weill and Shostakovich.
Emma has been living in Brussels since 2019. She also has a violin teaching practice in The Hague.
