The Ciconia Ensemble, conducted by Emmy Storms, takes you on a journey through Russian, Hungarian and South American melancholy and virtuoso temperament with the program Souvenir.
During the concert, listeners imagine themselves in different cultures and collect souvenirs from all over the world. For Tjaikovsky, Souvenir de Florence is a reminder of a creatively fruitful and free period, surrounded by the splendor of this city. For him, the piece of music is a lyrical work, “a subjective experience with feelings of joy and sorrow”. Listeners will travel across the ocean and immerse themselves in Argentine culture with the Tango Ballet, ending the journey with Weiner’s Divertimento No. 1 in Hungary, a piece inspired by Hungarian folk music, a source of melodic inspiration for Weiner. After the concert, listeners return to the Netherlands, packed with memories of a wonderful journey.
The ensemble consists of seven leading musicians from the string orchestra Ciconia Consort.
